  1. Distillery equipment for sale

Sorry about your closing. Have you sold everything? Rod Stallman 360-331-3797
  2. 2 Loons Distillery

Welcome Loons!! We will look forward to meeting you in person. Our Kayak Spirits is a wife/husband operation that is slow to start due to the interference of our day jobs. These intrusions into our distilling time is soon coming to an end and, as you, will become more active members of this august organization. Good Luck to you. Bon Voyage. Rod Stallman
  3. cost of good sold: fruit brandy

Hi, I've never made plum wine before and I assume this what you're using for your plum brandy but let me give this a shot. The recipes I've seen use 1# of fruit per gallon of wine. Because the plums aren't all that sweet you'll need to add sugar (about 1# per gallon of wine), and a little citric acid lower the pH a bit. It looks to me like you have a couple of bucks per gallon of wine and someone once told me a fair price to pay for wine to make brandy was in this range. It sounds like you are miscalculating your yield per # of fruit. What do you think. Rod Stallman, Kayak Spirits Distillery, Freeland, WA I
  4. Injunction DENIED

The Seattle Times ran an article today in the NWThursday section headlined "Judge refuses temporary halt to liquor-privatization measure." It goes on to say the judge will leave it to the WA Supreme Court to decide the constitutionality of 1183. From my perspective it would seem the best place to spend our time and money will be with the rule making process. The LCB has been supportive of this industry in the past and will be in the future if we make our arguments constructive. Orlin has been doing a great job of that. Keep up the good work!
  5. distibutors fee

In my first profession it is common practice to be checking someone elses work, we all want to be certain. I hope this doesn't get under someones skin as I know I'd heard someone else say at the meeting or in these forums, but I had to ask the WSLCB too. This is a copy of the email question I posed to the WSLCB regarding the distibutors licensee fee. I know I'd I wanted to hear it from "the horse's mouth." The orginal question is at the bottom, as this is a copy of the email and the response. Rod Stallman No, the $150 million collective distributor licensee fee is a responsibility of only those entities holding a distributor license. 7. Hello from Whidbey Island

Hello, we are Rod and Kathy Stallman and own Kayak Spirits Distillery in Freeland WA. The distillery is close to being ready to make our first wash. Just have a few more loose ends before we're ready and able. Kathy and I are both pharmacists at LINDS pharmacies on Whidbey Island. We look forward to meeting you all in the near future. The passage of I-1183 has us a little bit bewildered, what will the near future bring. Trying to understand the ramifications of being distributors as well as distillers, and what future financial liablity that may present. Many other parts of this new law seem to be possibly positive/possibly negatives for our industry that it certainly encourages me see this organization, Washington Distillers Guild, thrive. Rod
